Two new Gold medals have arrived from Bordeaux to Bodegas Sobreño. The prestigious Challenge du Vin competition has awarded two medals to Finca Sobreño Crianza 2019 and Finca Sobreño Selección Especial Reserva 2018, in its latest edition held on 8 and 9 April at the Palais des Congrès in the French city.

In its 46th edition, the oldest international wine and spirits competition organised in France, and one of the most prestigious in the world, brought together 530 tasters who analysed 3,179 samples from 26 producing countries in a blind tasting.

Finca Sobreño Crianza is a powerful wine with an intense aroma and a long, lingering finish, aged for 9 months in American oak barrels and rested for a further 6 months in the bottle. This year it has already been awarded a Gold medal at the CWSA Best Value in Hong Kong, and has also received other international distinctions such as 92 points from the American critic James Suckling.

Finca Sobreño Selección Especial Reserva is a powerful, fleshy and velvety wine that ages for 14 months in American oak barrels and rests for 12 months in the bottle before being released on the market. Among other awards, it has received excellent scores in different publications, such as the 93 points awarded in the Gourmets Guide 2021, the same points it received from the prestigious expert Robert Parker in 'The Wine Advocate', or the 92 points with which Stephen Tanzer rated it in 'The International Wine Cellar'.

80 hectares of own vineyards

All Bodegas Sobreño wines are made from the highly appreciated Tinta de Toro grape variety, which makes Finca Sobreño red wines, clean, bright and well-balanced, with intense colour, body and structure. The Toro winery has 80 hectares of its own vineyards and takes great care over the entire vegetative cycle of the vines to obtain the best grapes, which are then selected in search of the characteristics that stand out in each of its wines: Finca Sobreño Roble, Finca Sobreño Ecológico, Finca Sobreño Crianza, Finca Sobreño Reserva and Finca Sobreño Ildefonso.

Its commitment to the environment and quality, always maintaining the tradition of grape growing and adapting to new technologies, have made Bodegas Sobreño one of the most recognised brands in Toro, exporting 75% of its wines to 25 countries.
